1 the application of the reader’s card
readers aged 13 and above can apply for the reader’s card of the capital library of china. readers under the age of 18 can apply for the reader’s card of the children’s library.
readers can complete the application procedure in the self-service machine with the second-generation id card by himself or herself.
readers who don’t have id cards can apply for the readers’ card with valid ids (residence booklet, officer card, driving license, foreign passport, passport mainland travel permit for people from hong kong and macau, home-visiting certificate of taiwan fellowmen) in the general service counter or the general service counter for the children’s library with the help of the library staff (first time applicants need to have his or her photo taken on the spot for application).
officers, disabled people, senior citizens aged 60 and above, teenagers aged 13 and above can apply for preferential reader’s card in the general service counter.
2 passwords for the reader’s card

3 the change of the reader’s level
upgrading: please do it in the general service counter with the help of the library staff with your own reader’s card (application form needs to be filled in)
downgrading: please do it with the reader’s card and the original id card in the general service counter or the general service counter of the children’s library with the help of the library staff after returning all the books and materials borrowed. if you do it for other people, your original id card is also required.
4 the cancellation of the reader’s card

6 other reminders
the level of the reader’s card cannot be changed upon receiving the card.

the card holder should update his or her personal information in time.
7 the loss, re-application, upgrading and downgrading, and cancellation of the reader’s card applied in other libraries rather than the capital library of china can only be done in the original libraries by the reader himself or herself.
